Pre-application Requirements

In order to maintain CMI'due south high standards for instruction and serve as many students every bit possible, students interested in a major in Digital Pic Making and/or Animation Visual Furnishings must apply for admission to CMI. A pupil will ordinarily utilize for one major only may cull to double major in CMI. (Double majors usually do non consummate their degrees within iv years.) Notation: admitted students must maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 to continue in the program.

Blitheness and Visual Furnishings Requirements

Prospective majors to the Animation and Visual Effects Emphasis must successfully complete or exist concurrently enrolled in:

CMI 231, History of Animation (or equivalent with grade of B- or ameliorate)
CMI 235, Narrative: Principles of Story Across Media (or equivalent with course of B- or better)
ENGL 111, Rhetoric and Limerick
MATH 210, Mathematics Appreciation (or equivalent)

Digital Filmmaking Requirements

Prospective majors to the Digital Filmmaking emphasis must successfully complete or be concurrently enrolled in:

CMI 100, Introduction to the Artistic Media Industry (or equivalent with grade of B- or better)
CMI 235, Narrative: Principles of Story Beyond Media (or equivalent with grade of B- or amend)
ENGL 111, Rhetoric and Composition
MATH 210, Mathematics Appreciation (or equivalent)

In order to be eligible to initiate the CMI application process, students must first pass or be enrolled in these pre-requisite courses while maintaining an earned cumulative GPA of 2.5. Successful completion of the above courses is required prior to taking any additional CMI courses as an admitted major.

i. Application Process

Applications for admission to CMI are accepted in the fall and spring semesters (for consideration for admission get-go the following fall semester). Transfer student applications may be reviewed on a instance-past-example ground.

ii. Admission Decisions

An access committee for each major will work with the Academic Department Head of CMI to review submitted applications and decide admission. Access decisions will be based on an assessment of:

a. fulfillment of prerequisite class requirements by the time of entry into the program;

b. potential for a unique aesthetic evidenced in artwork sample.

c. clear and grammatically sound articulation of ideas in written application.

Notification of admission decisions will exist sent to students via email prior to registration for the following semester. Newly admitted students will be required to receive academic advising for registration for courses to be taken the following semester.
